Here is the one rule that I typically follow to create a successfully coordinated pattern play look. It is super simple. SUPER simple! Are you ready for it...coordinating colors. Red in the jacket and red in the turtleneck and done! That's all there is to it, folks. :) Well, that's if you want a coordinated pattern play look. If you want a complimentary look, well that really comes down to personal preference and your vision. I feel like that level of pattern play can't be taught. It's a gift. ;D Haha #butreally
Now let me see your coordinating pattern play looks. Share them in the comments section below, pretty please. Thanks so much for stopping by!

What to say about this outfit? I adore it! It really came together nicely. My top and skirt are oldies but goodies. This scarf doesn't get worn enough, but it really puts the cherry on top of this look.
We should all wear more square scarves. They give your outfit a truly pulled together look that has went by the wayside since the 50s and early 60s. Those women knew how to put together an outfit! We should bring back that sense of detail to dressing.
Let me know how you feel about square scarves and more pulled together looks in the comments section below. Thank so much for stopping by. I appreciate it very much. You are awesome!

This outfit came about because I needed a date night look for these chilly winter temps. As I was staring into my closet contemplating what sweater/jean combo or dress/tights pairing I decided to challenge my fashion sense to create something a little more interesting.
Knowing how cold it is outside and wanting to stay as cozy as possible this unique outfit popped into my head. The flannel shirt and puffer vest would keep me toasty, while the sequin leggings would add the fancy kick I needed to stay true to me. The addition of my cat ear beanie and snake print heels just followed naturally after that. The perfect pairing if you ask me!
This look definitely allows me to avoid looking like every other girl out there who is trying to avoid the cold. I urge you to try something a little different with your winter looks to get your winter blues and at bay.

Let's just talk about this wall mural. It is the star of this blog post, and quickly becoming my favorite wall art in KC. It was painted by the talented artist at Rif Raf Giraffe. A little secret, it isn't even finished yet! He still needs to finish up the outlines and details. I can't wait to see the beauty of the completed creation. I am 100% positive that I will be visiting this magical wall time and time again. Tell me what you think of this wall art in the comments below.
Now for the outfit. My first reaction to styling this skirt was to pair it with a floral or polka dot top and maybe some striped shoes. You know, my go-to pattern play. Then I thought I would change things up a bit and let the skirt stand on it's own (especially against this magnificent wall). I think the final look definitely makes a statement but an understated one. Well, as understated as a full circle skirt can be. Haha! By pairing this darling skirt with a grey cropped sweater the skirt gets to be the star. By adding the layered necklaces and bright pink Mary Janes this looks stays true to me. And I like to wear my clothes, not let my clothes wear me. :)
Thank you for visiting!
Sincerely,
W
