I have received several compliments and inquires about my hair throughout my blogging adventure so far, so I thought I would share my hair history with you guys. Well, believe it or not I was born with red hair. That red hair changed to white blonde as a child (toe head right here) and then a darker blonde with red undertones as a teenager and adult. My friends and family know how much I love red hair, so it was no surprise to them when I decided to go super strawberry blonde several years ago. This "super" strawberry blonde that I tend to go for fades rather nicely into a golden and coppery red that is easily maintainable for me, which I love!
When I moved to Kansas City I knew part of the adjustment would be finding the perfect hair stylist for me and my love of red. First world problems, I know. [Insert eye roll here] Stylists that enjoy using red color and are good at it are hard to come by. With that being said, it has been my experience that a good majority of stylists are scared of using reds. Again, that is just my experience. Yours may be different. I ended up trying several stylists within my first few years in KC and was okay with the results but not in love. And then one day a coworker told me about Sadie. A stylist that really enjoyed getting creative with color and just so happened to be AMAZING with red tones. And wasn't afraid or intimidated by it! I made an appointment immediately following my coworker's recommendation and have never looked back. She is great with ALL color and cuts. She's kind, creative and listens to what you want while still stamping her own mark and expertise on your hairstyle.
If you are in the KC area and need anything done to your hair, Sadie is your girl. She works at Chop Tops is Westport, which is a rather cool salon and barbershop with Craftsman tool boxes as work stations, velvet paintings as decor and wall murals. You know how much I love a good wall mural. If Sadie isn't available (she is expecting a new baby boy anytime now), Chop Tops has many other talented hairstylists that will help you look your very best.
Get to know Sadie and a few of her hair secrets below:
TYC: How long have you been in the hair industry?
S: I have been doing hair for six years
TYC: How do you stay motivated/inspired?
S:I stay motivated and inspired by keeping up with the trends and continuing learning about what's new and works for my clients.
TYC: What is your favorite thing about your career?
S: My biggest thrill is helping my clients feel and look their best. Also I am always up for a good challenge or changing up a total look for a client.
TYC: What are your everyday hair tips/tricks?
S: DRY SHAMPOO!!!! Today's fashion leans more natural waves, and body. So sometimes less is more with styling.
TYC: How do you keep your hair healthy and growing?
S: Biotin is great for hair growth, and natural vitamin D like sunlight. Having and maintaining healthy hair comes from so many places. Healthy dieting is a good start, actually drinking water and staying hydrated. Using a good leave in conditioner ALSO my favorite, a solid heat protectant for all the curling and straightening we tend to do.
I hope you have enjoyed learning a little more about my hair history and my favorite hair girl, Sadie. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Sincerely,
W
